We have 4 Core Values. These have been a part of our DNA for the past 100 years. They are critical in helping us stay on track with our passions.
Our worship of God is our primary practice, pursued with Biblically motivated zeal and offered in reverence with humility and joy.
Our commitment to connect people to God, to one another, and to His Body so that we can maximize our effectiveness as a local church.
This puts feet to our passion to see people reach their full potential in Christ. We want to help each person reach their God given potential as they discover their spiritual gifts and abilities.
The commitment to live our lives for something greater than ourselves. This brings us joy and fulfillment as we take up our towel and give ourselves to bless others.
We are a part of the Free Methodist Church.
Our Collective Mission: "To love God, love people and make disciples."
Our Collective Vision: "To bring wholeness to the world through healthy biblical communities of holy people multiplying disciples, leaders, groups and churches."
Communion: The Lord's Supper (Communion) is a celebration of our redemption by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There are many varied beliefs and traditions in many congregations.
Communion: The Lord's Supper (Communion) is a celebration of our redemption by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There are many varied beliefs and traditions in many congregations. At Deer Flat Church, we celebrate Communion on the third Sunday of each month as well as other appropriate occasions.
The elements represent Christ's broken body and shed blood, but the elements are never to be objects of worship. We believe that Christ is present in this celebration, but His body and blood are not literally present in the elements.
In a spiritual manner, the body of Christ is received and eaten in faith.
Baptism: Water baptism is an important step of obedience in faith for every believer. Jesus Himself insisted that He be baptized at the very beginning of His public ministry.
At Deer Flat Church, we believe that everyone who comes to Christ, regardless of age, should be baptized at the first opportunity. This would include children who have come to the age of understanding what a personal commitment to Jesus means and a desire to publicly confess their decision to follow Him as Savior and leader of their life.
We further believe that infants should be brought before the congregation as the parents dedicate their child to the Lord. In this service, parent(s) commit themselves to raising their child in the Christian faith. The congregation also affirms its commitment to minister and care for children.
Membership: Becoming a member of Deer Flat Church involves three steps:
1. Attend the LIFE 101 Seminar & sign the Covenant
The 101 seminar is designed to introduce you to Christ and His family at Deer Flat. Attending the 101 seminar is required for membership.
2. Meet with a Pastor (Optional) |
We have attempted to answer as many questions as possible in the LIFE 101 Seminar. If you would like to speak with a pastor for more information, please make a note on the Membership Covenant page.
3. Get welcomed into the Church Fellowship
The final step of membership is getting welcomed into the church during one of our Sunday morning services. This typically happens two or three weeks after the 101 Seminar. As a group, you will be invited up front and asked some "I do" affirmation questions about your beliefs. Then you will be introduced to the congregation.
