First Responders BS Slide.jpg

This Sunday is going to be another outstanding Lord’s Day at Deer Flat.  We are going to be honoring the First Responders from our communities.  The lineup for this weekend is top of the line!  We get a chance to say “THANK YOU”, to those who are ready to run at a moment’s notice in order to help someone.  I will be sharing a message as well that calls our attention to God’s amazing grace.

Think about this…God see’s the devastating results of sin and its impact on His creation.  He has no interest in sitting back and letting sin run its course, bring death and destruction at every turn, leaving a trail of wreckage to countless numbers people.  No, God determined that he would do something about people who were in trouble…US!  Part of the reason that the bible is so thick is because it covers God’s track record of helping people.  Being their FIRST RESPONDER to the mention of His name.

There’s a story about King Hezekiah found in the book of 2 Kings 18. Verse 36 says, “But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment.”  The Bible says, “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent”. “ Be still and know that I am GOD”.

Hezekiah king of Judah was distressed when he heard the insults and deals against the LORD from the enemy king of Assyria.. He described the situation as children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth. He cannot go forward and face the enemy, at the same time he cannot compromise with the enemy. He remained silent in front of the enemy and poured out with a broken heart in front of GOD. The GOD of Israel heard their prayers and gave them victory.

We face threats of many kinds in our lives. Desperate situations, people offering compromises and deals, career and family problems that sound hopeless etc. What do we do first? Seek human counsel? Google search? Connecting to people over social media? Instead, our first response should be toward the TRUE FIRST RESPONDER… “ be silent and spread it before the LORD” in a humble and honest prayer. Being silent is completely surrendering to GOD, where we trust Him and let Him take over the situation. Your prayer is like a 911 call to heaven.  And God, because of His grace, responds immediately, ready to be your First Responder.

LORD! I love you and praise your glorious name. You know the threats we face. Help us to make you as our first responder for every situation in our lives. Deliver us from all evil traps.  In Jesus name. Amen

I can’t wait to see you this Sunday.  It’s another perfect opportunity in invite a friend, coworker, neighbor or family member.  Go bold and invite.  The power of an invitation is nothing small!

 Love You and Loving Him,

Pastor D
