SUMMER, PSALMS, AND SEPTEMBER

Summer in the Psalms TS.jpg

I can hardly believe that we are into our second week of August already. It was just yesterday that I was writing to you about moving toward June and what was planned for summer. August showed up before I was ready for it. While there has been some fantastic weather and no shortage of places to run away to, I hope you’ve been able find some refreshment for yourself. It’s a really important ingredient. So don’t short yourself.

Some of the Deer Flat family are already headed back to school on Monday. Some of our teachers have been at their schools this week preparing for next week. Still others have another week or two before the school bell rings and the reality sets in that summer is pretty much over. Don’t you just hate that? Where does the time go?

Nevertheless, I wanted to thank all of you for helping make this a really great summer for Deer Flat. Because of you, we have had tremendous summer camps for children and students. We had an outstanding Vacation Bible School. We had an outstanding Missions Trip to Belize with 60 of our people traveling there to serve and give of themselves sacrificially. And, because of you, we have continued to have strong church services. I love that kind of summer!

PSALMS – As we have set these summer weeks to make our focus on the Psalms, the remaining weeks will be no different. This Sunday we’re going to take another mazing look at Psalms 91 and check out the amazing promises that God has made toward those who love Him. This is one of those you’’re not going to want to miss! It’s another great chance to invite someone to come with you. By the way, we have a great group of people getting baptized at the end of 2nd hour. It’s an amazing chance to celebrate with all who are taking this step of obedience.

SEPTEMBER – I don’t want to even acknowledge it yet, but reality trumps me. So, why not capitalize on it. September, like most schools, pretty much marks the beginning of the calendar for Deer Flat. It’s almost like the beginning of our year throughout the various ministries of the church. This coming month. There is a change happening this Labor Day weekend that you need to be aware of. Instead of only 1 all church service, we will be having our 2 regular service at our usual times. The reason for this shift is simply because we’ve outgrown the capacity of our worship center. As the church has grown, it has given us no choice except to make Labor Day Weekend a 2 service Sunday. There will be children’s church during both hours BUT NO SUNDAY SCHOOL, YOUTH GROUP OR ADULT CLASSES. These are really good issues for us to deal with. So, mark your calendar, make a note and you’ll enjoy another great Lord’s Day.

I can’t wait to see you this Sunday! I LOVE MY CHURCH
