FINISHING WELL - AND OTHER THINGS

September 14, 2022 7:33 AM
Dear Church Family,
Our focus this month on Sunday’s targets those virtuous values.  In the world we live in, these are becoming harder to find, and yet, it’s the call of God on our lives that points us to how important these are for His people.
‘There's not enough said these days about finishing well.  There's lots of material available on getting started and staying motivated.  Creative ways to spark initiative.  Plenty of advice floating around on setting goals and establishing priorities.  And all of it is insightful and needed.  But let's look at the opposite end for a change.
There's nothing quite like the loss of a friend or loved one that causes us to measure the passing of time.  It's times like this that bring us to focus on the virtues of sticking with something until it's completed.  Of hanging tough when the excitement and fun fades into discipline and guts.  Not losing heart even though the project has lost its appeal.
It's called finishing well, faithful endurance.
This coming Lord’s Day, we’re going to consider what faithful endurance means and how we live it.  If you happen to know someone who’s struggling with life, who is ready to give up, who has had a long run of bad luck, I hope you’ll invite them to join you for an insightful and amazing morning.  I can’t wait to see you!
On a second note, many of you know that I have a weekly radio program. Over the years it’s aired on Sunday’s on a variety of stations across the US.  The program is known as, “The Teacher and The Preacher.”  It’s a half an hour conversation between a Christian Pastor (me) and an Orthodox Jew (Harold Berman). We cover lots of subjects and use the program to build bridges between Christians and Jews.
A few months ago, after numerous conversations and prayer, we made a significant decision.  We decided to move from radio stations to PODCASTS. We decided that it opened up the audience from 20 some cities, to the entire nation and beyond.
At the end of this month, we will air our final program on radio. HOWEVER, we’re not going away. You can still have immediate access to our ongoing conversations and guests, by simply going to our website, www.theteacherandthepreacher.com. You’ll also find us on Spotify, Google Podcasts, and iTunes.  I hope you’ll check us out.  In fact, if you have an email list, would you mind to share this news with your friends? We would be forever grateful.
One final thingthe next Israel Trip Informational Meeting coming March 24, 2023, will be Monday evening at 7 pm at the Church Lobby.  If you have been wanting to visit Israel, this is the trip you’re going to want to be on. Come find out the details!
May the Lord bless you and keep you this week. See you Sunday.  Come expecting a great day!  Lovingly,
Pastor D
